How coins are valued
Transparent, weight-based pricing
Gold coins are valued on their pure gold content, not their face value. We multiply the coin's exact gold weight (in troy ounces or grams) by the live spot price at the time of your offer. A full sovereign, for example, contains 7.3224g of pure gold, so its value moves directly with the gold price.
Where a numismatic or rare coin has a collector value above its gold content, we will note this in your offer and advise you accordingly.

Selling gold coins: your questions answered
Do condition and year affect the price?
For standard bullion coins, the offer is based mainly on gold content, although condition can affect a coin's value. For rare numismatic coins, year and condition matter more and collector value may apply, so please contact us to discuss.
Can I sell a large quantity of coins?
Yes. We handle large collections regularly. For larger collections, or coins worth more than £2,500, please call us first so we can arrange the most appropriate insured delivery.
Do I need to clean the coins before sending?
Please don't clean your coins, as it can reduce their numismatic value. Send them as they are.
What documentation do I need?
No special documentation is needed to sell coins to us. As standard anti-money laundering practice, we ask for ID when we make payment.
