The short answer
When you accept your offer, we make a single Faster Payment bank transfer to the account details you provide. The full amount stated in your offer letter is transferred — no admin fees, no deductions, no handling charges. Accept before 2pm on a working day and payment arrives the same day, typically within 2 hours.
We do not pay in cash. The Scrap Metal Dealers Act 2013 prohibits cash payments for scrap metal, and this applies to silver transactions as well as gold. This protects you as a seller — cash transactions leave no record and offer no protection if something goes wrong. Bank transfer provides a clear, traceable payment you can verify.
The total time from requesting a free pack to receiving payment is typically 5–7 working days: 1–2 days for the pack to arrive, 1–2 days for your items to reach us, 1 day for assessment and offer, then same-day payment on acceptance. For urgent sales, call us — we can expedite the process.

Common questions
Why can't I be paid in cash?
The Scrap Metal Dealers Act 2013 makes cash payments for scrap metal illegal in the UK, regardless of the buyer or seller's preference. This was introduced to combat metal theft. Bank transfer provides you with a clear, traceable record of your payment — it's better protection for you too.
How quickly does the bank transfer arrive?
Faster Payments typically arrive within minutes, often instantly. If you haven't received payment within 3 hours of our confirmation email, contact us with the payment reference and we'll investigate.
Can I be paid into someone else's account?
The account must be in your name or jointly held in your name. We cannot transfer to a third-party account as this conflicts with our anti-money-laundering obligations and the Scrap Metal Dealers Act.
I don't have a UK bank account — can I still sell?
Contact us before sending. We can discuss international wire transfer arrangements for overseas sellers. These typically take 2–3 working days rather than same-day and may involve a modest transfer fee.
Will I receive documentation for the sale?
Yes. You receive a full itemised offer letter (suitable for tax records) and a payment confirmation email. These documents show each item, its weight, purity, price calculation and the total — comprehensive records for any personal tax purposes.
What's the total time from posting to payment?
Typically 5–7 working days: 1–2 days for pack delivery, 1–2 days for items to reach us, 1 day for assessment, same-day payment on acceptance. If you need funds more quickly, call us to discuss expedited assessment.
