Are some sovereign dates worth more than others?
Yes. Pre-Victorian (pre-1837) sovereigns, certain rare dates, and low-mintage issues can carry numismatic premiums significantly above bullion value. We check every coin and will tell you if yours qualifies.
What's the difference between full and half sovereigns?
A full sovereign weighs 7.98g and a half sovereign 3.99g — both at 22ct (91.67% gold). We buy both at the same percentage of spot, with premiums applied for rare dates or proof strikes.
Do you buy sovereigns that have been cleaned or polished?
Yes, though cleaning can reduce any numismatic premium. For bullion purposes — which is how most sovereigns are valued — condition and cleaning don't affect the gold content or our base offer.
