Gold has a market value that changes by the minute and is the same everywhere in the world. The London Bullion Market Association (LBMA) publishes a benchmark price twice daily; everything else is based on it. Your gold is worth a fraction of that price determined by how much pure gold it actually contains.
The formula is straightforward: take the weight of your piece in grams, multiply by the purity factor for its carat (9ct gold is 37.5% pure, so 0.375; 18ct is 75% pure, so 0.75), then multiply by the current gold price per gram. The result is the intrinsic metal value — what a responsible buyer will base their offer on.
Condition, style and brand rarely change the value unless the piece has genuine collector appeal. A bent 18ct ring is worth almost identically the same as a perfect one of the same weight.

Do I need to know the carat before sending?
No. Our XRF analyser determines the exact purity of every piece independently of any markings. You don't need to sort, research or label anything before sending.
Does condition affect what my gold is worth?
Almost never. A broken chain, a bent ring, a scratched bangle — the metal content is identical to a perfect piece of the same weight and carat. Condition only matters for watches and numismatic coins.
My jewellery has stones — does that add to the value?
Diamonds and gemstones are assessed separately and can increase your total offer. We report on all stones above 0.25ct in our itemised offer letter.
Is the calculator figure what I'll actually receive?
The calculator uses the live spot price and your estimated weight and carat. The actual offer is based on our verified XRF weight and purity — it will be accurate but may differ slightly if your estimate was approximate.
Can I sell just one piece?
Yes. We accept individual pieces from a single ring upwards. There is no minimum weight or value.
