A set of sterling silver cutlery or a pair of candlesticks can contain several hundred grams of .925 silver — worth a significant amount at today's spot price. Yet many sellers accept pennies from high-street buyers who don't bother to test accurately. We use XRF spectrometry to establish the precise silver content of every piece, then pay 90% of live spot.

Common Questions

How can I tell if my silver is sterling or plated?

Look for hallmarks — sterling silver in the UK is stamped '925', 'Ster', or carries a lion passant hallmark. If there's no mark, don't worry — we test every item with XRF and tell you exactly what you have.

What about antique silverware — is it worth more?

The precious metal content drives our offer. However, some antique pieces have collector value above their melt value. If you have potentially collectible pieces, mention them and we'll advise.

Do I need to polish the silver before sending?

No. Send everything as it is. Tarnish and patina have no effect on the silver content. Polish is irrelevant to our assay process.

Can I send a mixture of silver and non-silver items?

Yes. We test every item separately and will clearly tell you which items contain silver and which don't. You only receive an offer on items with genuine silver content.
